DESCRIPTION

Variable in colour and pattern, typically shades of brown - from pale fawn to rich chocolate-brown - above with dark streaks on sides and pale spots. Lips white to rich yellow sometimes speckled or barred with brown. Ear lobes white or cream. Approximately 180mm in length. The genus Egernia has a longer fourth toe and its lower eyelids are moveable

The Major Skink can be found along the east coast of Australia from northern NSW (Coffs Harbour region) to the tip of Queensland (Cape York). It has a variety of habitats from rainforests to open woodlands and rocky outcrops. The skinks likes to shelter in hollow logs, and under rocks and it is often seen darting for cover when startled. It is an omnivourous feeder. It bears live young.
