Natasha Crook was born in Gunnedah, grew up in a small rural town
called Casino in the Northern Rivers and is currently living in
Armidale, New South Wales.
Nat
has an undergraduate degree in Science, majoring in Zoology. She
is currently doing honours in Zoology, researching wombats.
Natasha
is a self-taught professional wildlife artist and has been drawing
since 2000 and painting since 2002, specialising in oil painting.
She has learnt her painting skills by reading art books and attending
a couple of local oil painting classes. She also studied art throughout
high school.
In 2004 Nat's acrylic artwork "Great Cats" was selected to be
part of an exhibition at The Art Gallery of New South Wales and
is now a part of a permanent collection at Westmead Children Hospital.
In
2006, she won the Greater Building Society New Talent Award for
my acrylic painting "Endangered Eyes".
Her
HSC visual art body of work was selected for ArtExpress and tour
around NSW.
In
2008, Nat's oil painting "Taking a chance" based from her experience
at Australia Reptile Park was selected as a finalist in the Waterhouse
Natural History Art Prize, Australia's richest award for natural
history art.
Nat
has won several prizes in local competitions around NSW and has
been a part of numerous exhibitions. She has sold her paintings
in these competitions as well.
Several
of Natasha's artworks are hung in hospitals around NSW.
Recently
her inspirations has come from her direct experience working with
animals and volunteering at numerous zoos and conservation projects.
Seeing the individual personality allows her to create paintings
that the general public would not see everyday.
Nat
has painted a variety of different animals, each with there own
story to tell.
Natasha
does commissions and pet portraiture. If you like more information
