Wildcare Australia

Wildcare Australia is one of Australia's largest and well regarded wildife rehabilitation organisations.

The organisation was formed in 1993 by Dr Jonathon Hanger and was originally known as the Australian Koala Hospital Assocation Incorporation.  In 1996, after a bit of a reshuffle, three carers - Eleanor Hanger, Gail Gipp and Sharon White - added their knowledge and experience to the group and the rescue operation was called WILDCARE. In 2008 the organisation changed its name to Wildcare Australia Inc.  The groups rehabilitation license covers the area from the NSW border, west to Boonah and north to Logan River.

Wildcare Australia believe in knowledge sharing and are strongly focused on education.  They have an extensive list of carers resources on their website that are freely available to download.

Resources include :

  • Guideline – Rehabilitation of sick, injured and orphaned protected animals – Conditions and restrictions
  • Rehabilitation Fact Sheets
  • Training Manual - Caring for Orphaned Mammals
  • Species Information Sheets
and more...
